The Best Time: June to October ☀️

Our favorite: September-October. Why? Perfect weather (25-27°C), calm seas, fewer tourists, and reasonable prices. It’s the ideal sweet spot!

The dry season runs from June to October with beautiful weather and almost no rain. The water is at least 25°C, ideal for diving with exceptional visibility.

January-February is also a great option if you love the heat (up to 32°C) and budget isn’t an issue.

When to Go to Zanzibar?

The Seasons in Detail

To Avoid: March to May

The long rainy season. April and May receive over 200 mm of rainfall. Some hotels close, roads become difficult, and the humidity is stifling. On the other hand, prices drop by 50% and you’ll have the beaches all to yourself!

November: A Gamble

The short rainy season begins. Frequent but short showers, pleasant temperatures (24°C). If you’re flexible and don’t mind a few showers, the mid-season rates are worth it.

Local Tip

The west coast receives 3 times less rain than the east coast! If you have to travel during the rainy season, head to Nungwi or Kendwa in the northwest.

Must-See Events 🎉

Sauti za Busara (February): The coolest African music festival in the Indian Ocean. 4 days of concerts in the alleys of Stone Town, featuring 400 artists. An amazing atmosphere guaranteed!

ZIFF – Film Festival (late June): 10 days of African cinema, screenings under the stars at the Old Fort, concerts, and art exhibitions. The cultural event of the year in Zanzibar.

Mwaka Kogwa (January): The traditional New Year in Makunduchi. Ancestral rituals, banana stem fights, dancing, and feasting. An authentic and unique cultural experience.

Full Moon Party (January): The famous party at Kendwa Rocks with international DJs, fire dancers, and a festive atmosphere with your feet in the sand.
